The MELAB 2011–2014 Technical Review is now available for download.

The Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) evaluates advanced-level English language competence of adult nonnative speakers of English. The technical review provides test technical information and discussions about the MELAB, including:

  • general information about the test and a proposed interpretation of MELAB test scores
  • how the exam is scored and equated
  • procedures for reporting scores
  • guidelines for score use and decision making
  • changes in the MELAB from 2011 to 2014
  • MELAB test-taking population
  • trends in the MELAB test results by section and demographic variables
  • trends in reliability estimates, standard error of measurement, and subtest correlations for each year
  • a review of the validity evidence currently available to support CaMLA’s proposed interpretation of the MELAB results
