Michigan Language Assessment’s largest test center in Brazil, FISK Brazil, marked its 60th anniversary with a celebratory conference July 25–28. More than one thousand FISK representatives from across Brazil and Argentina attended Congresso FISK 60 Anos at the Hotel Royal Palm Plaza Resort in Campinas.
Michigan Language Assessment’s Barbara Dobson, director of stakeholder relations, and Rafael Carpanez, business manager for the Brazil Region, attended the event. Both she and Rafael said the conference was a great experience, and they appreciated meeting so many FISK language teachers and learning about their programs, including FISK’s growing number of young learner classes. “I was impressed by the teachers’ commitment to excellence and to exploring ways to provide their students the best in language learning and language assessment experiences,” said Barbara.
“It is vital to connect face-to-face in order to understand our center’s needs,” said Rafael. “We want to provide them the best support in their efforts to grow in Brazil and Argentina.”
Rafael also waited in line for over an hour to meet and have his picture taken with Mr. Richard Hugh Fisk, founder of the FISK organization. “It was a great honor to meet Mr. Fisk and share in his 60-year legacy of FISK Brazil,” said Rafael.
