In the early months of 2019, we welcomed several new staff members and said goodbye to a colleague who’s helped grow the business over the past two years. Mickey Bonin, Michigan Language Assessment’s director of business development and marketing, left on February 15 to take on a new challenge as the head of strategy and product at Cambridge Boxhill in London. Mickey began working for Michigan Language Assessment in April 2017. He established our sales teams in Latin America as well as created a dedicated marketing department at Michigan Language Assessment. His contributions to the organization will leave a lasting impact.
“I was happy to be part of the rebrand of Michigan Language Assessment, as well as working on the launch of MET Go!,” Mickey said. “For the first time in its history, Michigan now has a range of products for language learners at all levels and all ages.”
We wish Mickey the best in his new opportunity.
While we must say goodbye to Mickey, we are pleased to welcome Fernando Fleurquin, who takes over Mickey’s responsibilities in business development and marketing. Fernando has a deep understanding of English language learning. Previously, he has worked for Alianza (one of Michigan Language Assessment’s longest standing authorized test centers) as well as the English Language Institute, which is the precursor to our organization.
Fernando is excited for the opportunities his new role offers. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to join the wonderful team of Michigan Language Assessment,” he said. “I look forward to working closely with test centers, preparation centers, recognizing organizations, English teachers, and administrators to help people all around the world to prove their English proficiency and achieve their personal and professional goals.”
Fernando’s numerous credentials include an MA in marketing and business management. He is working to complete an EdD from the University of North Texas this year. With Fernando on the team, we are confidently facing the future, ready to help more learners prove their English and achieve their goals.
