Michigan Language Assessment’s largest test center in Brazil, FISK Brazil, marked its 60th anniversary with a celebratory conference July 25–28. More than one thousand FISK representatives from across Brazil and Argentina attended Congresso FISK 60 Anos at the Hotel Royal Palm Plaza Resort in Campinas.

On October 20 and 21, CaMLA staff met with colleagues at MITESOL 2017, hosted this year by Oakland Schools in Waterford, Michigan. The Michigan Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (MITESOL) is an affiliate of TESOL international. The conference drew over 400 attendees comprised of ESL teachers, instructors, program coordinators, researchers, and language assessment professionals.

On October 3, CaMLA staff met with colleagues at MwALT 2015, hosted this year by the University of Iowa. The Midwest Association of Language Testers annual conferences bring together researchers, test developers, students, teachers, and teacher educators from across the Midwest. The presentations, conversations, and community-building that occur at MwALT encourage participants to strengthen their work assessing language proficiency.

CaMLA hosted the sixteenth-annual Midwest Association of Language Testers conference on October 3 and 4 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was a great pleasure to welcome 89 delegates to Ann Arbor from across the MwALT community and from further afield. We also had several presenters from beyond the Midwest—Columbia University, Northern Arizona University, The University of Massachusetts, Georgia State University, and from ETS. Read More
