Michigan Language Assessment is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but our work is conducted throughout the world. We depend on authorized test centers to administer our exams to language learners who want to prove their English by earning international certifications. Michigan Language Assessment has authorized test centers in more than 35 countries, and each center is supervised by a designated center exam manager (CEM) who acts as the key contact for business operations and training.

In the early months of 2019, we welcomed several new staff members and said goodbye to a colleague who’s helped grow the business over the past two years. Mickey Bonin, Michigan Language Assessment’s director of business development and marketing, left on February 15 to take on a new challenge as the head of strategy and product at Cambridge Boxhill in London. Mickey began working for Michigan Language Assessment in April 2017. He established our sales teams in Latin America as well as created a dedicated marketing department at Michigan Language Assessment. Michigan Language Assessment will soon offer a more robust set of educational materials. Rita Simpson-Vlach joined Michigan Language Assessment as the educational materials developer in the fall of 2018. She’ll support teachers and test centers by developing new educational resources that include test preparation materials and classroom activities for skill-specific development.Read More

Michigan Language Assessment’s largest test center in Brazil, FISK Brazil, marked its 60th anniversary with a celebratory conference July 25–28. More than one thousand FISK representatives from across Brazil and Argentina attended Congresso FISK 60 Anos at the Hotel Royal Palm Plaza Resort in Campinas.

Executives, diplomats, directors, and schools joined us on May 29, 2018, in Lima, Peru, to launch MET Go! This new, secure test is designed specifically for teens and will be available for centers to administer—on dates they choose—beginning in November 2018.
