Michigan Language Assessment has launched a concordance study, an exciting research project to compare results from individuals who have taken both MET and IELTS Academic. Test takers from all levels of proficiency in English from around the world are being encouraged to participate.
“We know MET is a reliable indicator of English language proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking,” said Mika Hoffman, Director of Assessment. “The results from this study will provide individuals with more detailed information to make informed decisions to compare test results.”
Since its launch in 2009, the Michigan English Test, better known as MET, has seen exponential growth in test takers from around the world. This growth is due to the unique approach Michigan Language Assessment takes with its English proficiency tests: a mission-driven focus on helping international students and workers fulfill their dreams, improve their lives, and have a lasting impact on their families and communities.
MET was designed and continues to be updated following a rigorous assessment process to ensure it meets the needs of accepting institutions. Yet our test developers have always remembered our mission. The result? A valid, reliable, and trusted proficiency test that is easier to prepare for than other traditional exams, and one that is also suitable for high-stakes testing.
At Michigan Language Assessment, we understand the many challenges people face when planning to work, study, or live in another country. Why? Our staff comprises specialists and professionals with experience learning other languages and teaching English or other languages all over the world, people just like our test takers who dedicated their time and energy to learning a second, third, or sometimes fourth language to expand their opportunities.
Our success over the past 70 years is proof our model works.
