Building Pathways for Nurses: A Health Carousel & MET Program Update

The partnership between Health Carousel International and Michigan Language Assessment is doing exactly what it was designed to do—creating a pathway for Mexican nurses who want to take the next step in their international careers.

Over the past several months, hundreds of nurses across Mexico have raised their hands to explore this opportunity. Applications have come in from every one of Mexico’s 31 states, representing both public and private universities, with participation from around 30 institutions nationwide. This success so far speaks to how strongly nurses and educators are seeking clear, achievable routes into global healthcare roles and an English exam that supports those goals.

From that initial group, a few hundred nurses have already completed a diagnostic English assessment, Michigan-EPT, helping them understand where they are and what support they may need. From there, more than 100 nurses have been invited into the program, and dozens are now actively enrolled and progressing through English coursework designed to accommodate their schedule and build community with their classmates of similar backgrounds.

We’re also excited to see the program reach an important milestone: three groups of nurses has already taken MET, marking a critical step toward meeting English requirements and moving closer to international placement opportunities.

For hospitals, this means a growing, well-prepared pipeline of candidates who are already engaged, supported, and moving forward. For nurses, it means clarity, structure, and momentum without any guessing or delays.
