Michigan Language Assessment continues to expand recognition of MET across Australia, with universities, colleges, and professional organizations now accepting MET scores for academic admission, training programs, and professional pathways.

This growing network of recognizing organizations reflects Australia’s strong demand for reliable, accessible English language testing options for international students and skilled professionals.

Recognition Across Higher Education

Many Australian higher education institutions now recognize MET as proof of English proficiency for applicants. These include organizations such as Charles Sturt University, Asia Pacific International College, the Australian College of Physical Education, Academies Australasia, and the Australian Institute of Music—and members of the prestigious group of 8 such as The Australian National University and The University of Melbourne.

Recognition at these institutions allows prospective students to demonstrate their English proficiency with a test that measures communication skills and provides clear, reliable score reporting.

Vocational and Training Institutions

MET recognition in Australia also extends across the vocational education and training sector. Institutions such as TAFE New South Wales, TAFE International Western Australia, and Skills Institute Australia, accept MET scores as part of their admissions process.

Vocational institutions play a key role in Australia’s international education system, preparing students for careers in industries such as business, hospitality, health sciences, and technology. MET helps ensure applicants have the English skills needed to succeed in both academic and workplace settings.

Professional and Government Recognition

In addition to educational institutions, MET recognition has expanded to include professional and governmental organizations.

For example, Engineers Australia, CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand, and Institute of Public Accountants recognize MET as part of its English language requirements, supporting internationally trained professionals seeking skills assessment.

MET is also accepted across multiple English proficiency levels by the Australian Department of Home Affairs, including Functional, Vocational, Competent, and Proficient English categories used in migration and visa pathways.

A Growing Network

The expanding recognition of MET across Australia demonstrates increasing confidence in the test’s quality and relevance. Developed by Michigan Language Assessment—a joint venture between the University of Michigan and Cambridge University Press & Assessment—MET provides institutions with a secure, reliable measure of English proficiency.

As Michigan Language Assessment continues to build partnerships across the region, MET is helping connect students, professionals, and institutions through a trusted assessment of real-world English skills.
