• in person at an Authorized Test Center
• in person at a Prometric test center
• remotely at home

Depending on which MET you need, your registration steps will differ.

Not sure where to find a test center? Find a test center near you.

1. Find a test center → Use the Michigan Language Assessment website’s Find a Test Center tool.

2. Contact the center directly to confirm test dates, fees, and availability.

3. Register through the center (process varies—some handle online sign-up, others do it in person).

4. Provide required ID and personal information when registering.

5. Pay the test fee (directly to the center).

6. Receive confirmation with your test date, time, and location.

7. On test day: bring your valid ID, arrive early, and take the test under in-person proctoring.

Check Exam Availability (Recommended)

You can view general test center availability through Prometric to see dates, times, and locations near you.

This step is for planning purposes only. You cannot book an exam until you register and pay for your MET.

1. Go to MET Exam Slots (Prometric ProScheduler) and search .
2. Select:
   
   • Test Sponsor: Michigan Language Assessment
   • Program: Michigan English Test (MET)
   • Test: MET 4-Skill (Test Center)
     
3. Enter your city and preferred date range.
4. View available dates, times, and locations.

Create an Account and Pay for Your MET

1. Create an account in the Michigan Customer Portal

(name, email, ID).

2. Register for a test → Select:

• Test: Michigan English Test (MET)
• Location: In-center – Prometric Test Center
• Type: MET 4-Skill 

Add accommodations or scorecard options if needed.

3. Provide test details, including purpose, education level, and first language.
4. Pay online

Select your payment method, enter your details, and submit payment.

You must complete payment before you can schedule your exam.

5. Receive a confirmation email

You will receive a confirmation email with instructions to schedule your exam with Prometric.

Important Information

• You cannot schedule your exam until you have registered and paid through the Michigan Customer Portal.
• Instructions for remote testing, 2-skill testing, and blocked room testing are the same as before.

1. Go to the official Michigan Customer Portal

2. Create or log into your account (name, email, ID information).

3. Choose “Remote (at home)” as the delivery option.

4. Select your preferred date and time from available options.

5. Pay the test fee securely online.

6. Receive confirmation email with:

• • test date/time
  • technical requirements (computer, webcam, stable internet, quiet environment)
  • link to download the proctoring software

7. Run a system check before test day.

On test day: log in 30 minutes early, complete the ID check, and begin the exam under live remote proctoring.
