MET is easier to prepare for than many other English language tests

You don’t need specialized knowledge because MET was designed to test your knowledge of English for the real world. But you want to do your best on test day, so we’ve assembled resources to get you started, to boost your confidence, and to help you feel your best on test day.

Test format

MET tests your listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills in four sections. If you are an international student planning to use MET to apply to a university, the 4-skill MET can be taken at an approved test center, or at home in some countries.

We also offer a 2-skill version of MET, used by some institutions to meet internal or local requirements. The 2-skill MET can only be taken in an Authorized Test Center.

If you plan to apply for an Australian visa for any purpose, you will also need a 4-skill MET taken in an approved test center.

If you are an international student planning to use MET to apply to a university, the 4-skill MET can be taken at an Authorized Test Center or at home in some countries.

Listening and reading questions are multiple choice and have one correct answer. Writing requires responses to two tasks. The speaking section is given at the same time as the other sections.
